Frequently Asked Questions

GENERAL OVERVIEW

What is Uber Health?
Uber Health is a HIPAA compliant transportation platform for healthcare organizations. The web-based dashboard allows hospitals and other healthcare professionals to request, manage, and pay for rides for others, at scale.

How can my organization get started?
Organizations can create an Uber Health account in a few easy steps via the online Self-Service portal. Provide a valid email address, company name and payment profile, create a password and agree to terms and conditions and our privacy statement. Once we have this info, our team will review your signup and contact you within a few days to get you set up.

Where is it currently available?
Uber Health is currently available in the United States everywhere that Uber is available. With an Uber Health account, you can request or schedule a ride 24/7, in any city where Uber operates.

How much does it cost?
There is no service fee to use the Uber Health platform. The cost of scheduling a ride through the dashboard is the same pricing available to all riders at that time and is billed monthly directly to the healthcare organization.

How does it work?
Through an on online dashboard, healthcare organizations can schedule rides to and from care for patients, guests, and others.

How do you request a ride with Uber Health?
There are 2 ways to request a ride from On-Demand or Scheduled. On-Demand rides arrive right away, with ETAs under ~10 minutes. Scheduled rides are set for a specific date and time up to 30 days in the future.

Do riders need an Uber Health account?
No, Uber Health allows you to request a ride for anyone. Riders don't need to be tech savvy, do not need to be existing Uber users, or even have a phone.

How is a passenger notified when a ride is booked?
When a ride is booked in advance, the passenger receives a call or text with the scheduling information. When a car is on the way to the pickup location, the passenger receives another call or text notifying them. If the passenger doesn’t have a phone, no problem. The caregiver or organization can coordinate on their behalf.

What type of vehicles are available to request with Uber Health?
Coordinators can request any vehicle class that is available in the area where they are requesting a ride except for Uber POOL.

Can you access Uber Health via the Uber app?
No. You cannot use Uber Health via the rider app. There is a separate HIPAA compliant website at health.uber.com that you must use to request rides for patients.

How does billing work?
You’ll see each trip charge listed in your dashboard as soon as the trip ends, but all charges are processed together in one single monthly bill. The bill is emailed to admins on the 1st of the month and processed on the 8th of the month. It will be charged to the credit card associated with the account.
